“Flightsim” teamproject for “Grundlagend der Computergrafik”

No Comments, Other, Projects, RealLife, by Wuempftlbruempftl.

Last week ended a small competition in my university lecture “basics to computer graphics”. After a semester of learning about the basics of computer graphics and the fundamental use of OpenGL we got the chance to use our knowledge for a small project – the best projects should gain a small bonus for the upcoming exam. The topic: Flightsimulator
After only 10 days (announcement was 2 weeks before evaluation) my team consisting of two other fellow students and me was awarded for the best one of seven submitted works – as aimed from the early beginning on :D

If you like, you can download it here (19mb zip, win) – source code included. A PDF with additional information  is enclosed (in German).

Even if I gained only minor technical knowledge (because of preceding experiences in computer graphics) this project was very valuable: The teamwork felt tremendous to me. Though we had entirely different skills in graphics and programming we synergized in a very effective way. Therefore it was also a funny and enriching experience.

Thank you Patrick & Florian :)

Link collection is back!

No Comments, Other, by Wuempftlbruempftl.

My little development link archive is back!

If somebody knows a simple way how I could improve the layout and appearance of the generic Firefox bookmark html export please let me know – reorganising by hand is terrific…

Hopefully there’s something interesting for you. Have fun :)

New Website

No Comments, Other, by Wuempftlbruempftl.

Obviously you found my new website :)

It was time for me to break away with my blog site “Wuempftlbruempftl”… I met nearly nobody who could speak out the name, so maybe you have more luck with my real name.
Apart from this the new homepage should be more a portfolio website than a blog because as you can see I write mainly at goldenvertices.de

Maybe you miss the old link archive – let me know if this is the case. Currently I don’t have the motivation to keep it up to date (links are always dying so fast …), but your interest can be an argument :)

Link Collection

No Comments, Other, RealLife, by Wuempftlbruempftl.

Hey out there.
Hm well it’s been a looooong time. The bare fact is that I haven’t anymore the time and motivation to write articles on a regular basis.
Currently the most time consumes university, Golden Vertices (you guys rock! :D ), Acagamics Game Development Workshop (you guys rock too :) ) and in the vacation I want to begin another small additional programming project – an old dream, something I want to program for years. (you will see)

But hey I’ve got something new for you :) :
In all these years of hobby programming I gathered a lot of Links to many useful articles. It’s been overdue to rearrange and sort them long ago.
So I thought to myself, why not publish them – there are so many good ones that are difficult to find, maybe someone like you, reader, need them.

And here is it, my small collection. I also wrote a description to some of them :)
I plan to update it from time to time.

Please keep in mind that my selection is completely subjective.

Victory at MB21

1 Comment, CuBrush, Projects, RealLife, by Wuempftlbruempftl.

Last weekend the MB21 Media Contest took place in Dresden. Maybe you remember the article of the nomination.

Sadly I didn’t win the contest…. no, I won twice :D
CuBrush and Xrodon won the first place in the age category 16-21.

Thanks to all guys out there who helped with their advices and  motivated me :) . Without you, I had given up long ago.
Looking at Cubrush my very special thanks
to Meesh who made the music for CuBrush – without you, there wouldn’t be the real “cube-feeling” (and maybe the instruction had spelling mistakes like my blog articles :D ),
to Rameos who stand by in some design issues  – thanks for the awesome logo in 1.1 !!!,
to my ex-girlfriend who influenced the game design with her bright mind,
to Marco for his ideas and motivation to the 1.1 patch.

A German article about the victory of Xrodon at MB21 will arrive soon.

From now on in English

No Comments, Other, by Wuempftlbruempftl.

Yes you read right! From this on I will write all articles in English. This has two simply reasons: First I want to practise my English skills, second more people can read my writings. In view of the programming orientated content, this shouldn’t be a big barrier for the most reader ;)
By improving my English skills, I want to make a further step into a carrier as professional game developer (or in general software developer).

Don’t hesitate to point out my mistakes, I’m eager to improve my skills :)

Eil-Bugfix für Cubrush

No Comments, CuBrush, Projects, by Wuempftlbruempftl.

CuBrush 1.1 – Patch Release

No Comments, CuBrush, Projects, by Wuempftlbruempftl.

1 Comment, CuBrush, Projects, by Wuempftlbruempftl.
